What is Feldenkrais?

The Feldenkrais Method® is a form of somatic education that uses touch, movement and directed attention to restore wellbeing and healthy functioning.

The method enables you to become aware of habitual neuromuscular patterns and rigidities and learn to move in new ways, increasing range of motion and improving flexibility and coordination.

Feldenkrais lessons teach you the means to take charge of your own improvement and are offered in two ways, enabling you to discover which learning style is most appropriate for your needs: Functional Integration® and Awareness Through Movement® lessons.

Regardless of which learning style you choose, the Feldenkrais Method can help you improve skills and overcome limitations brought on by stress, misuse, accident or illness.

Everyone can benefit from the method. It helps those experiencing chronic or acute pain of the back, neck, shoulders, hips, legs, or knees, as well as healthy individuals who wish to enhance their movement abilities.

Functional Integration®

Functional Integration® lessons are private sessions tailored to each student's individual learning needs. The teacher guides the student's movements through gentle touching and words.

Awareness Through Movement®

Awareness Through Movement® lessons are individual or group classes in which the Feldenkrais® teacher verbally leads the students through a sequence of movements in basic positions.

"The aim of the Feldenkrais Method is a person that is organized to move with minimum effort and maximum efficiency, not through muscular strength, but through increased consciousness of how movement works."

Feldenkrais & Performing Arts

Jennifer Blanco works both individually and in groups with performers, including dancers, actors, and musicians. She combines her experience as a Feldenkrais Method® teacher with her knowledge in the field of performing arts, including theater, dance, and music. Her approach focuses on an artistic practice that promotes health, personal growth, and development.

The Feldenkrais Method offers significant potential to help performers improve their body awareness, move with greater ease, and overcome physical and emotional blocks that may limit their performance on stage.

Without learning to know ourselves as intimately as we possibly can we limit our choices.
